Here are some Before pictures:

So much clutter! Yikes!
And here it is After:

We went with a brown and aqua color scheme, and I love it! It feels very summery and fresh.

A thrifted white shelf and some IKEA baskets for my Everyday Food Magazines. The painting of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was done by my friend as a wedding gift - Darryl and I met while playing at the Grand.

My favorite clock in the house surrounded by decals from Holly.

The corner shelf, cleared of clutter!

My shamrock plant, who almost died when I transplanted it into this vintage container, and my new favorite print from The Wheatfield.

I got this cute canvas marking the year of our marriage in a trade from Whimsy Gal.

More cute vinyl decals - this one, and the "Hello" on the other side of the door is from Tasty Suite.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. It was A LOT of work! (Especially for Darryl). And, I cleaned out a lot of clutter as well. It feels good to get rid of excess stuff, doesn't it? Then you can see what you have, and enjoy it, instead of shoving stuff out of the way all the time to get to the few things you actually use. I have to declutter the kitchen next, that will be a challenge!
Teaching violin lessons in this room is much more relaxing now as well. It's nice to have a pleasant space to teach in, although when my students don't practce, nothing is very pleasant. :) Maybe the soothing aqua and brown palette will lull me to sleep when that happens!
Love the brown and turquoise. It looks fabulous in that room! I often decide and persuade as well... ha ha. Everything turned out lovely for you my dear! It must have been a lot of work!

I love the corner shelf! =) It really has so much charm to it. Good job on the fab makeover!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous!!! At first I was thinking that I loved the original colors but the after is spectacular. I'm in love with the decals and the little painting and the date painting and, well, the color. Guess you can tell I like it, huh?
ReplyDeleteSo calming and beautiful! LOVE it!

It looks amazing...I love how everything just fits in such a peaceful way. AND, I know exactly how you feel about your students not practicing! When my piano students don't practice, I'm good at hiding my true feelings; absolute frustration & a need to bury my head in my hands!
ReplyDeleteThe room is gorgeous!
